Emu & Rhea: Chicks and Eggs

These birds are an amazing addition to any farm or ranch. They are friendly and intensely curious, and will pickpocket you or steal your earrings if you're not paying attention. Their beautiful cream-colored eggs are often used for decorative and ornamental purposes.Their feathers make excellent fishing lures. Emus grow up to 6 feet tall, and weigh between 70-120 pounds; rheas grow up to 5 feet tall, and weigh between 50-70 pounds. Both species have a lifespan of 20-30 years, and can reach running speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, so keep your gates closed!
